Thanks to European funds the local administration together with the Pro Loco has succeeded, in recent years to recover these streets, improve the signage and add new educational panels.
The territory of the Isola del Giglio is mostly mountainous and its ridge reaches 498 meters s.l.m. (Poggio della Pagana). So the paths are more or less demanding, some can be traveled without large gradients and others very challenging, especially to do uphill. The excursions to the Giglio are particularly indicated in spring and autumn thanks to the mild climate. Moreover, during the spring days the Isola del Giglio explodes with colors and scents.
Useful tips:
Most of the trails are rough (some are not suitable for mountain biking), solid shoes must be worn. Don't forget to bring enough water with you. To signal besides that in so many points (above all on the western side) they don't take the mobiles, therefore if you want to be taken by a taxi to go back it is advised to take the appointment before the departure.
